• ABSTRACT: The objective of the current study is to reveal the status and the tendencies in the technological development of the legally protected for-eign technological knowledge in different fields and spheres of the International Patent Classification, to study the national identity of the patent holders and to draw some conclusions and prognoses. These goals were achieved through analyses of the foreign patent activity in Bulgaria for the period 2001-2012, measured by the number of the patent for innovation of foreign holders.
