  • ABSTRACT: The article deals with scientific approaches to determining the essence of the concept of "competition", the different types of competition, generalized approaches to classifications of economic competition are highlighted. The comparative description of basic market structures is presented, the definition of the concept of "competitive environment" as an integral part of the market economy, and determining the economic category of "competitive position" is given. The main signs of competitiveness as one of the criteria of economic entity efficiency are considered.
